Infinity Window - Transfat

Another exquisite Infinity Window release. This one on Chocolate Monk (weird name) UK label mostly stuff on CD-r. Boring artwork but brilliant release however.

¡link!

Infinity Window / Treetops

This ones a tour release. Infinity Window and Treetops (again) released this tape on Arbor. A quite short contribution, a bit under 20 minutes. But quite awesome. Infinity Window was Daniel Lopatin (OPN) and Taylor Richardson.

clckclkclkclk

As a side note, huge fan of this video, playing weird wonky sounds on expensive analogue synths (probably flea market finds at that time, before hype and all that shit) and smoking indoors. Seems like good times.

Sky Stadium - Mid-Air

This ones was originally released on CD-r in 2011 (good year) by some anonymous label called Teal FX. I first kind of thought Sky Stadium might be the one running the label or maybe his friend from work or maybe an old friend he meet at the bar, I mean just because of the limited amounts of releases but also because 3 out 5 are from Sky Stadium. Just guessing.

This one was for me an old find and no artwork has been sourced. If anyone could share me one that would appreciated (no reward, sorry)

Treetops - As I Gaze

Treetops is the boss from Arbor (rip) so if you're a young peep only known to modern day cosmic music coming from random hyped outlets Arbor was one of them how kept a low profile and got themselves a rep for being all about lofi high quality. No posers counting instagram followers or likes or taking photos while wanking over expensive tech gear, just dudes releasing awesome tapes on cassettes and being happy about just that. Good times. Before social media fucked us all up.

This ones 10 years old now. Still timeless.

get here or source a copy from on of them discogs sellers.

By the way if you're on social media. Stop upload photos of your hardware why does people keep insisting on doing that? It not better than some random person taking photos of their modified chevy cavalier. So please don't. Nobody who actually likes music for what it is cares.

Miles Devens ‎– Atlantic Woman

This is an "old" gem. Released in 2007. 10 years ago. on pacific city. one of our top 5 labels I guess. Miles Devens, to some maybe more known under his other name ignatz... This one is in the skaters vein. really cool stuff. if there are any musician sitting at home with no ideas of what to do with their newly bought expensive musical equipment should get rid of it and understand that gear doesnt make a good musician or record. ideas does.   this is a living example of that  .

cllclclclclcck.

Forest Walker - UV Sea

Another one from the always relevant Constellation Tatsu. Forest Walker debut UV Sea. First track Desert Lighthouse delivers some really lush tremolo driven ambience. While the rest of the album being more chord progressed. Realtime Lapse could either be one of the better interpretations of our oceans or the soundtrack to some vintage french tantric instruction video. you decide. either way its highly recommended. clclclclclck.

Tarzana - Alien Wildlife Estate 2015

Spencer Clarks label pacific city sound vision keeps on putting out wax that are far beyond alternative. Keeping it pure by simply doing exactly the things they wanna. If everyone was more like Spencer I think more people would feel a bit better.

However, this is not a recording entirely by Spencer Clark (aka monopoly child etc) this is one of these collabs with one of his european friends, jan anderzen. maybe more famous to the mainstream audience by his moniker Tomutonttu or for being in the alist radio band Kemialliset Ystävät.

what do i know.

Panabrite - Wasteland Cycle

Wasteland Cycle. The 28th (?) release from Panabrite. Panabrite (born Norm Chambers) is a Seattle, WA. based ambient / new age musician that is for some also known as Jürgen Müller.

Wasteland Cycle was released in 2014 by the Guenter Schlienz curated label Cosmic Winnetou.

H3RE!!

Sky Stadium ‎– South Sea

South Sea by Sky Stadium is a totally amazing tape. Ambient and lush chord progression on this one. Very beautiful and well arranged. Released in 2010 on Existential Cloth Recordings.

Fourth World Magazine - The Spectacle Of Light Abductions

Fourth World Magazine one of many aliases used by Spencer Clark. Famous for being in acts like Monopoly Child Star Searchers, Black Joker, Typhonian Highlife, Egyptian Sports Network (w. mark McGuire), Skaters (w. James Ferraro), Vodka Soap and Tarzana. The Spectacle Of Light Abductions one of his best efforts to date was released in 2011 on his own label Pacific City Sound Visions. Very weird astronomical-drone-sci-fi-alien-hypnagogia. Highly recommended.

Skyramps ‎– Days Of Thunder (2009)

Skyramps, also a duo. This time it is Mark McGuire (Emeralds) and Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) who is shifting the gears. Awesome mix of OPN-esque arpeggiators and the Mark McGuires pleasant phaser guitar strumming. Released in 2009 on Wagon.

Totally awesomęęęęęę

Bermuda Link ‎– Passed Lives

To prove how right i am regarding the brilliance of jeffry astin, here is another fine example of his drone excellence. this man knows how to operate machinery. Passed Lives was released in 2013 on his own imprint Housecraft Records.

Bermuda Link is a duo, the other human half of the act is made out of Josh Burke. Josh has also a very extensive catalogue of brilliant material in his backpack. Some of it has been featured here. Josh is also some kind of a wonder child when it comes to craft quality drone.

Mannateas – Everglade (2012)

when i wrote about jeffry astin and mannateas yesterday my mouth started to water and i had to run to my cassette shelfs and dig this one up. totally amazing. and one of my favorite experimental/ambient/drone tapes to be honest. total perfection. discogs link.

yesssss so good!!!!

Astronaut/1994/Housecraft recordings

Here is one amazing tape split. Released back in 2008 on Housecraft Recordings.

Astronaut was a trio where one of the members was Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix point never) and the other two probably also did some other things besides Astronaut - to be honest I haven't had the time going down that path, yet. Well. Yes.

1994 is the other act consisting of Jeffry Astin and Jason Nicolaus. Jeffry is probably well known to some of you for being the mastermind behind the label this tape was released on [Housecraft Recordings] but also for being a very, very productive dude using a ton of diffrerent aliases and being in so many great and influential acts through out the years... Digital Natives, Xiphiidae, Bermuda Link, Mannateas... etc.

X.Y.R. - Mental Journey To B.C.

Xyr constructs ambient tones that makes you think that you were trapped on some hot and humid island in the middle of the nowhere ocean. but when reality bites you and you realize XYR is actually hailing from mother russia you’ll soon realize that this hot and humid island actually could be freezing cold arctic tundra. music can be as much deceiving as life itself. great find. great copy. great label. LINK TO MUSIC EXPERIENCE

Get XYR from the NNF label:

https://xyrmusic.bandcamp.com/album/mental-journey-to-b-c

On a side note:

I love Not not fun. and i think it's hard to describe what that label has meant to todays contemporary* alternative music scene. there so many acts that has been coming out from that L.A. nest. Bands that has influenced other acts without telling others that it was actually NNF who formed their music. Don’t know if this is true. But at least I believe so. I also believe that there are so many crap labels out there today releasing music, not because the music they are publishing are any good but rather because they want to run their label and release something. How fucked up is that. Really?

And people without a proper music map will find this crap labels cool, without even listening or analyzing or realizing that they are experiencing shit.

Not Not Fun has never been shit. They’ve always kept it together. And they have at many times led the way for todays alternative music scene. Unfortunately I think NNF has been experiencing the inflation that has occurred because of all these shit labels. I hope they will come out of this shit label ashes. Soon.

*sorry but i cant find a better word

Chihei Hatakeyama - You're still in it

Chihei Hatakeyama is an electronic music artist from Tokyo, Japan. He released his first full-length album, Minima Moralia on Kranky Records in 2006. Hatakeyama's music is characteristically very slow, composed by repeatedly processing guitars, pianos, and vibraphones on a laptop. The result is a mix of droning chords and sparse single instruments rising above the mix. His music may be classified as either post-ambient experimental music or new-age music.

WELL HOW ABOUT THAT. UNFORTUNATLY EVERYONE WHO'S DOING ANYTHING TODAY JUST SEEMS TO COPY AND PASTE THEIR VISION OF THEIR [INSERT ARTFORM HERE] FROM SOMEONE ELSE. WHAT IS GENUINE TODAY? WELL FRANKLY I DO NOT KNOW. EVREYONE WANTS TO HAVE THEIR [ARTFORM] OUT AND HAVE THEIR FOLLOWERS (FAN BASE) BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ISNT ANY FUCKING SHORT CUTS IN LIFE.

However. Chihei is something ordinary. and it was recently out on constellation tatsu. very well made indeed. AND EXTRA CREDITS TO NICE COLOR SCHEME IN THE ARTWORK. EVEN THOUGH IT MIGHT LOOK A BIT TOO PHOTOSHOPPED.

and YES you can obtain it. just by clicking on THIS text.

Glass House - Haruspex

this little drone tape was released in 2014 on the pretty cool label cosmic winnetou. A label runned by guenter Schlienz. this piece is drowned in reverb and manage to achieve quite a nice trip in to the unconsciousness. It is this perfect tape when you can't get into that lucid dreaming state and wants a push into it. kind of. two scores around 40 minutes in total. very pleasant. the path is here.

Upper Astral – Skybirds

Upper Astral, one of the more interesting new age projects I've come across lately. And its not contemporary new age made of some girl or guy in there 20s. The first releases by Upper Astral came back in 1981 and was released on the label Valley Of The Sun, who had David Naegele in their roster. David did a tape called "temple forest" that was awesome (reminding us very much of on of our favorites Dolphins into the future)

One of the more prominent Upper Astral releases dates back from 1982 and is entitled Skybirds. For enjoying that experience yourself please follow this route.

James Ferraro - Alternative Soundtrack To Scream In Blue Surf Video

Master liquids of blue cool masochistic temples, equal water scales in tubular forms for breathing brains by hot lava worship of dark shades cross scanning shade continuum beach fire memory, crowns into disembodied surf riders experiences of parallel wave communion. Recorded Nov 2006.

One of the best James Ferraro recordings.
So many great sounds on this one.

Opaline - Memory Drain (constellation tatsu)

opaline is hunter from the us and a. he makes the new age music of today.......lame. but his music suuuure is not. great when you're staying up late and your tired of listening some lame jazz shit music and got that exam or whatever. or maybe you just wanna impress your date with some weirrrdoo music. and they'll be like, "hey whats this your playing?" and you'll be like "it's hunter jamming, he goes by the name opaline, isnt it great!" and the date be like "yeah, you got some bad ass taste in music, wanna hang out tomorrow aswell?" great story. link to date music goes here.

favourite track: memory drain! such a great arpeggiator track. its the track you'll turn on while dressing off while the moon is peering through the blinds

Fluorescent Heights - Relaxing In The New world (beer on the Rug)

another great one from fluorescent heights. released pretty recently on beer on the rug.... great ambient new age waves reminding a bit of dolphings into the future. weird layers of harmonics and drones taking us out on wild safaris on deep rivers. kind of. recomended. click click click.

Orphan Fairytale - Ladybird Labyrinth

It's been six long years since this LP was released back in 2009 on Antwerp (Belgium) label Ultra Eczema. It's been out of print for some time now but far too great to be forgotten.
This link will make you rediscover.

AND YES, here's a mature advice for you recording artists out there: Make sure your music is good enough to be released. There is just too many records and tapes being released today because of the urge of releasing rather than recording. But you know, only because its out doesnt mean it's good or even worth being released. Your music will be forgotten. Make it proper. It's worth the wait. Keep it up. Do it again. Quantity does not equal quality.

Oh I just noticed that Ducktails is releasing a new album this summer. it is called St Catherine.

About the artwork. The photo is from the Medici Chapel (Cappelle medicee) much of it sculptured by Michelangelo back in the 16th and 17th centuries. Read about it on wiki here.

Ducktails artwork looks as if it was taken from this photo here,

Black Joker - Europe Tour CDr [2009]

In 2009 Monopoly child star searcher aka black joker (olde english spelling bee, under water people) did a tour around europe. with the tour he brought with him a couple of CDRs slipped inside some very neat plastic pouches with a home made artwork. they we're sold at the shows. some of them who bought it decided to share it to more people than just the ones attending the shows. this upload is a proof of that. enjoy by clicking here.

Quiet Light Water Gap ‎– Paint

Quiet Light Water Gap ‎is one of the many projects by John Elliott of Emeralds and Outer Space. This C20 was released in 2009 on Wagon in an edition of only 13 copies, acording to discogs. Heavy drone pads on this one, reminds a bit of some Outer Space tapes but this one is even more monotone and vacuum/space sounding.

Silver Futures ‎– From The Swamp Rot Rises My Baby's Dreams

Silver Futures ‎– From The Swamp Rot Rises My Baby's Dreams
Silver Futures were Mark McGuire (Emeralds) and Etienne Pierre Duguay (Predator Vision).
Reminds a bit about Marks other stuff and some Emeralds, very cool!
Released in 2009 on Future Sound Recordings.

Bongo ‎– Live At Sleazy's

Bongo ‎– Live At Sleazy's
This might look strange at first glimpse... But these two tracks creates a superjam composed by no others than Matt Mondanile, Julian Lynch, Alex Bleeker and Etienne Pierre Duguay. Very nice tropical vibe with bongos, organs and funky basslines. Super cool off course!

Ducktails - Dreams in Mirror Field (2007)

Ducktails - Dreams in Mirror Field
This is an early Ducktails release. Released in 2007 on Future Sound Recordings. Recorded in Berlin. Artwork by Jan Anderzen (of Tomutonttu and Kemialliset Ystävät)

David Naegele ‎– Journeys Out Of The Body

David Naegele ‎– Journeys Out Of The Body
So I thought. Why not combine this blog with some old vintage true new age music. Theres so much contemporary awesome music going on but with roots in the past that some seem to be quite unaware of - not that I am any expert in the subject except that I enjoy listening to it... Well, whatever.

So First off, this hidden gem by David Naegele. This tape was released on Valley Of The Sun in 1983. Repetitive synth based new age music. Very cool to say the least. Ive got some tapes by Upper Astral, also on Valley of the Sun, will post them later on.

Nastya Vakuum - Pop Problems/Настя Вакуум - Поп-проблемы

Totally mind–blowing stuff from Kyiv, Ukraine: Nastya Vakuum (Настя Вакуум) makes some of the best avant garde pop right now, just in the same sense as artists like Maria Minerva.

thats it for today I think. more music soon.

Blablarism - Fugue (New Ideals, 2013)

Blablarism is Kiev based musician Oksana Zmorovytch. The music could best be described as post-punk, but with a very contemporary approach and unique sound. Highly recomended!
